John has a wide variety of employee benefits experience. He is an active participant in industry affairs, having served on the Board of Directors of the New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) for 17 years, including a two-year term as President of the Board. He serves currently on the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Broker Advisory Committee and is a former member of the Delta Dental Plan of Massachusetts Corporation. John represents national plan sponsors as a member of the Code Review Committee (CRC) of the American Dental Association. In recent years, John has presented at conferences sponsored by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), the Self-Insurance Association of America (SIAA) and the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP). He has written for, and been quoted in, numerous publications.
John has worked extensively with public sector clients. He served as a member of the Committee on Retirement and Benefit Administration of the national Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and has been a frequent speaker at GFOA programs. John spent five years as the Staff Director of the Joint Taxation Committee of the Massachusetts Legislature.
Highlights of John's career include: managing innovative, jointly-trusteed dental and vision insurance programs for the Massachusetts Public Employees Fund; designing and implementing a voluntary long-term disability program for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts; developing new patient intake, quality assurance, and care delivery systems for a multi-specialty faculty group dental practice; and designing, implementing and coordinating consumer satisfaction, disenrollment and dental outcomes research projects.
John's professional career experience includes working as a management consultant for a large international accounting firm and serving for eight years as the Fund Administrator for a public employee dental and vision fund. John was also the Senior Vice President of a dental practice management company and the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
John has both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University, and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
